Air Canada Updates

 Automated carry-on baggage sizers

To ensure that your carry-on baggage will fit onboard, Air Canada has introduced automated carry-on baggage sizers pre-security in the Montreal (YUL), Toronto (YYZ), and Vancouver (YVR) airports.

These new, touchless machines are easier and faster to use than the metal sizers. Please make sure that your carry-on bag complies with the sizing to avoid having to check your carry-on bag at the airport. Note that any non-compliant baggage will be assessed and is subject to applicable baggage fees.

Flights between Ottawa and Toronto Island

New easy and convenient flights between Ottawa, the nation’s capital, and Toronto’s downtown business centre begin October 31, 2021. Save time and additional travel by flying directly between Ottawa and Toronto Billy Bishop Airport with 4 daily flights, increasing to 8 daily in 2022.

This new route is in addition to Air Canada's existing 5 daily non-stop flights between Montreal and Billy Bishop Airport.

WestJet Updates

New service between Toronto and Dublin

Starting this spring, WestJet is adding new non-stop seasonal flights between Toronto (YYZ) and Dublin (DUB). Service between Toronto and Dublin is set to operate four-times weekly, beginning May 15, 2022 and will increase to daily by June 2, 2022.   To view the schedule and frequency to Dublin, click here.

Currently you do not need a negative Covid-19 test upon arrival in Costa Rica, just proof of double vaccination.  A negative test for your return to Canada is required 72 hours prior to your departure as per government regulations.  JW Marriott Guanacaste is able to connect you with the local hospital, clinic or labs in Guanacaste which offers PCR testing and are happy to help book an appointment and arrange transportation to the appointment.  They also have the option of In Hotel Testing available. As requirements can vary as to time needed for test prior to re-entry and/or specific test types, we recommend guests review the requirements of their country of origin or final destination.
